What a Trip ! The idea

Travel culture festival

Welcome to What A Trip !

Fostering a better understanding of the world through the practice and culture of travel is the mission of the organizers of What a Trip! Montpellier gave themselves in 2016 by organizing a federating festival for the travel community.

This is why every year, at the end of September, the Esplanade Charles de Gaulle in Montpellier turns into a giant bivouac for 4 days by hosting the international festival of travel and adventure films!

The festival of travel in the heart of Montpellier

Located on the Charles de Gaulle esplanade, a stone’s throw from the Place de la Comédie, What A trip! is an urban festival, popular, that knew how to make a place in the life of the Ecusson.

The village of travel: beating heart of the festival

Meeting place between the public and adventurers, the village of travel offers a large number of animations for young and old throughout the fstival.

Projection - meetings

An official film competition and an OFF festival for 21 films presented to the public. Each film is followed by exchanges with the protagonists and directors.

Exhibitions

Numerous exhibitions of photographs and travel diaries in historic and unusual places of Montpellier and its metropolis! A real photographic stroll in the city!

Conferences and workshops

For 3 days, the village hosts a series of conferences and free thematic workshops on the theme of travel.

Concerts

Every night, the festival village turns into a dancefloor thanks to the festival’s P’tite stage! 6 free concerts to end the days with dancing!

Travel village

At the heart of the festival, the travel village includes the bar, the foodtrucks area, the concert stage, the travel bookshop, conferences and workshops… All in a warm atmosphere. The place to be !

Educational project

What A Trip! it is also an educational project whose outcome is the organization of screenings for the school public, in partnership with the National Education and the Departmental Council of the Hérault.

Quand une mère qui a perdu son jeune fils cherche à redonner du sens à sa vie, cela donne "et je choisis de vivre" un film produit par Nans Thomassey ("nus et culottés") et Damien Boyer. Un film qui met les mots doux et apaisants sur une expérience de vie douloureuse.

Développé par les étudiants d'eArtsup Montpellier et en partenariat avec la Région Occitanie, l'éco aventure est un jeu mobile éducatif qui vous fera évoluer dans les décors de notre chère région !
