The organization AFIVAM puts together educational screenings aiming to sensibilized the youth to the importance of being open-minded but also to the preservation of our planet.

You will find on this page the tools that will allow you to link the screenings to your school programs.

Objective : transmission

As part of the association’s missions, screenings will be organized in partnership with the Hérault Department, the Montpellier Academy, the National Education and PierresVives.

The building designed by Zaha HADID will host the two screenings (one in the morning, the other in the afternoon) that will allow primary, middle and high school classes to attend a screening meeting of the movies “Les voies de la liberté” and “Le grand saphir”.

In order to link this projection to the different school programs, the organization teams have written an ‘educational kit’ for teachers.

About ‘Le Grand Saphir’

This film follows the «Le Grand Saphir» initiative of Emmanuel Laurin (Manu), who has covered in 14 days more than a hundred kilometers swimming, between Marseille and Toulon, with the aim of raising public awareness of pollution in the Mediterranean Sea.

It also proposes to discover other citizen and individual initiatives that have in common
environmental preservation through the collection of macro waste, both at sea and on land. Beyond the alarmist and critical aspect about the pollution of our environment, this film shows that everyone can act responsibly, think about their own consumption, to improve things. This film was part of the Official Selection of What A Trip ! Festival 2018 and won the USHUAÏ TV Award.

Director speaker: Jeremi Stadler

Passionate about extreme sports, including surfing in the Mediterranean Sea, he became aware of environmental pollution.

Graduated in Cinema at the University Paul Valéry of Montpellier, he created his company FilmMaker which allows him to carry out projects that are dear to his heart.

This film allows students to discuss sustainable development and consumption concepts. The sometimes impressive images (in terms of the amount of waste) allow them to see what impact they have on the environment and to realize that changes must be made quickly if we do not want the situation to be irreversible. The positive final message and the initiatives presented can have a real impact on the behaviour of students regarding their waste and their consumption habits.

Interview with the director speaker : Jeremi Stadler

The director of the Grand Saphir, Jeremi Stadler, answers the questions of Sophie DUTEIL-DEYRIES, head of the educational department of  What a trip! Heyme festival.

About “Les voies de la Liberté”

Synopsis: The Paths of Freedom ! Or the Portrait of the Notion of Freedom in Five South Asian Countries! Here is the theme of the new solo motorcycle expedition 2015/2016 of Mélusine Mallender. In mid-October 2015, the long-run motorcycle expedition specialist, Mélusine Mallender will begin her new solo expedition: 6 months in South Asia, from Jakarta, to cross successively Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar (former Burma), Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, China. This film was part of the Official Selection of What A Trip ! Festival 2019.

Director-speaker : Melusine Mallender

Mélusine Mallender is an explorer, documentary filmmaker, geographer, diving instructor, costume designer, biker…
It all began in 2010 when she left Paris with her old 125 Varadero motorcycle, which she had acquired several years earlier and which now has 110,000 km on the clock.
She decides to go as far as possible with her, in order to make their last journey together.
Mélusine always leaves alone, it is a way for her to go more easily to meet others but also to show that it is possible for a single woman to travel in the world. She collects all her adventures and testimonies thanks to photographs but especially vidéos. She joined the prestigious Société des Explorateurs Français in 2015.

‘Les voies de la liberté’ talks about the notion of ‘freedom’, including the women’s one, throughout 40 different countries that the film maker crossed during her journey. This particular movie, full of emotions, brings a fresh eye on those women, their lives, their battles. Some of those testimonies highlight the evidence that ‘freedom’ does not have the same meaning according to one’s origin and allow ourselves to question our own freedom.
